On a hilltop in Mexico City in December of 1531, the Virgin of Guadalupe appeared to Juan Diego, a poor Indian, asking him to help build a church in her honor so that all may come to pray.

So began the close and loving relationship between the Latin community and the Virgin of Guadalupe. Mexicans and Latin American Catholics in California remain devoted to 'La Virgen Morenita’ and her image, and consider her to be their greatest advocate before her son Jesus.

From the beginning, Sociedades Guadalupanas have formed wherever Mexicans have established their faith. Our Lady of Guadalupe’s Sociedad Guadalupana is no exception. Our parish Sociedad Guadalupana was established in 1929, shortly after the first church was completed on 4th Street in La Habra, and is one of our oldest organizations. This group’s primary responsibilities are to further the spiritual and material goals of the Parish. 

The mission of the Guadalupana Society is to favor and promote devotion to Our Lady of Guadalupe, Patroness of the Diocese of Corpus Christi and of the Americas.  This is accomplished by way of prayer, evangelization, and by practicing charity through apostolic work.  The Feast day of Our Lady of Guadalupe is December 12. 

We invite all members of our Parish to join La Sociedad Guadalupana! We welcome your presence as we celebrate Our Lady of Guadalupe and learn more about her venerated role in our Faith.

This woman’s organization is dedicated to service and devotion to the Blessed Mother under the title of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Our mission is to spread the devotion of Our Lady of Guadalupe to both men and women, young and old, of all nationalities and cultures. We carry forward the tradition of our faith through Posadas, mananitas, and the monthly rosary. Our goal as Gudalupanas is to provide spiritual growth and development to one another and others. Our committees within our Society establish faith, love and a strong commitment to the church, community and ourselves.
